“My studies at Young Actors Space began in 2011. I had been out of acting for a while and dove back in by joining the Adult Scene Study class which also incorporates lots of improv.  It’s a terrific class to keep your instrument tuned and it continues to challenge me - I’m still learning all the time.

I’ve also taken the On-Camera class which is great for both audition techniques and those very specific muscles that one needs for camera work.  Patrick Day, who taught both these classes, is a terrific teacher and coach.

“Before finding the Dialects class at YAS, I did a LOT of research in an effort to find some course where I could learn IPA. Unless you are enrolled in a university, there simply is a void in this market. I feel extremely lucky to have the ability to learn IPA, not just in Los Angeles where I am based, but at a studio 15 min from home.

I went to a top drama school, but the approach to dialects was entirely different there. I feel this is a more technical approach to dialects than mimicry is, and it satisfies my own need to feel like I've covered all my bases or done due diligence in preparing for a role.

I recently had a last minute audition for twelve pages of a French dialect (something I had never ever attempted before) and using what I learned from Scott, I was able to walk into the room with confidence and know that my dialect was spot on.

As a young actor the classes gave you the an outlet to explore your love for acting while being a serous acting class environment. I remember every Tuesday night being excited and ready to go to class and have FUN honing my craft with good friends I had made. The children & teen classes are what gave me my strong foundation for my acting.
